Posted by admin on Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I have just finished programming a new OSX Dashboard Widget.  It checks the current pricing and availability for CCIE Routing and Switching, CCIE Security, CCIE Voice and CCIE Security racks.  The process for creating a widget is pretty straight forward.  The only part that wasn’t support out of the box was making AJAX calls to […]

Half as many free iPhone apps hit app store as paid apps

It seems the rush of free iPhone applications is slowing.  Today, for example there were four applications released in the free section: Clowdy Photo Blogger, Vecka, Writing Pad, and Quitter.  However, there were eight new applications for the iPhone which cost money: eWallet, Jade, Kenkou, Moo Box, Shout It, Sketches, SuperPong, and Tiny Violin.   […]

ULCPC’s keeping XP around for a few more years…

Posted by admin on Friday, April 4th, 2008

Good news for us frugle people. It seems the Microsoft isn’t ready to kill Windows XP just yet. Even after the release of Windows Vista SP 1, it seems that Microsoft still needs to keep XP around due the limited processing power, memory, etc. of these ULCP’s (ultra low-cost PCs).

This seems strange to me due to the large number of versions of Windows Vista.  Apparently, Apple’s Leopard doesn’t have the same problem with their one version. However, the deadline for the death of XP has been extended to 2010 instead of June 30th, 2008.  Hopefully by then they will have fixed all the problems with Vista and can be proud of their current operating system, Windows 7.  Which is to come out around the same time as XP’s new expiration date.  Maybe this is just Microsoft’s way to say that they know Vista isn’t worth the upgrade. So hold on to your copy of XP and get SP3 when it comes out in a few months.  Because until then, most of us see no real advantage to upgrading.  Read the original story.
